Changes of the Terms of Use for Cloudhiker

I have updated the Terms and Conditions for Cloudhiker, effective immediately.

Generally speaking, those changes were long overdue as Cloudhiker evolved a lot in the recent years. Having a lawyer review and rewrite the current terms was absolutely needed. Most of the changes aim to clarify legal definitions, introduce proper rights for you as a user, and extend the terms with needed explanations.

I encourage you to review the new terms at cloudhiker.net/terms. I know that reading legal documents is difficult. Therefore I have summarized the most significant changes below to help you understand what is new.

Key Points of the changed Terms of Service

  • Clarification of Our Agreement: I have explicitly defined that your relationship involves two separate agreements: a Service Agreement with me (Cloudhiker) for software usage, and a Sales Agreement with Paddle.com for payments and billing.
  • Revised Trial Period and Subscription Terms: I have formalized the trial structure as a 14-Day Free Trial, as well as the Subscription term and renewal.
  • EU Consumer Rights: I have added a specific section regarding the statutory "Right of Withdrawal" for consumers residing in the EU/EEA, acknowledging the standard 14-day withdrawal period.>
  • Lifetime Subscriptions: I included a new section to define the upcoming "Lifetime Subscriptions." This clarifies that "lifetime" refers to the operational life of the Service and covers the features available at the time of your purchase.
  • Data Retention & Termination: If I ever need to terminate an account for cause (e.g., policy violations), I have extended the grace period for you to request data retrieval to 14 days. This is an increase from the previous 2-day window.
  • Prohibited Content: I have updated the list of prohibited content to be more specific—explicitly banning malware, spam, and sexually explicit material—to keep the platform safe for everyone.
